This is the shit! After quite a few so-so attempts I have now come up with very good method. It's time consuming but very easy and the results are pretty damn good.
I first mask off all non-lace areas and paint the whole arm with flesh tone. Shading and sculpting. Then I overlay liquid frisket on everything not 90-100% intensity.
Then I colored in all the black with transparent black. Keeping true to the reference. Darker on the sides. The I went over it with a very dark flesh tone. Kind of heavy on the violet.
Now I remove the liquid frisket and did more shading with a heavy violet flesh tone.
Remove the background mask and this is what I get. The reference photo is there too. I forgot to post that.
Looking at this on my computer that photo is bad. I will do a better photo and detail how I do the liquid mask.
