Nails from Hell

This project was supposed to be an exercise just in doing hair. I did learn quite a bit about what doesn't work in that respect. The big one was using friskit to mask the curl on our right near the bottom. I thought I could mask it off and then render it after. All it did was make it stark white and then impossible to match. The first attempt I did on this subject I lost that curl trying to render the hair behind it. Next time I will use freehand shields.

So the rest was just me trying new stuff. I started by sculpting the face and hands with smoke but screwed up a lot. I then figured I would just play with flesh tone and see what happened. I put the flesh over the smoke I already had down and that is why it looks so dark. But for a first attempt I feel I should be able to try flesh and do ok.

I did the lips and nails in red. Also transparent. I used the liquid friskit to mask around the nails in an attempt to protect the fingers from overspray. Everything was good until I tried to remove the mask. I guess it was too wet or the paint underneath was wet, but it pulled off the paper. I then just painted them all red. It looks evil.

Next attempt I will go slower and be more careful.
